TotSafe has been offering professional home childproofing services to families in the Southeast Michigan area since 2003.

We specialize in working with our clients' unique needs, to provide the best services for each family.  Sometimes that means we inspect the home from top to bottom.  Sometimes its just one room.

We work with you to come up with a plan which works for you, your home, your budget, and most importantly, your child.

How does TotSafe's home childproofing service work?

TotSafe offers home baby-proofing services to parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers.

Services include:

  1. In-home, room-by-room evaluation by our professional childproofer, including

    1. a thorough babyproofing checklist,

    2. discussion of child safety concerns and suggestions,

    3. product consultation and selection.

The in-home consultation and product selection generally takes about two hours. Once we have completed the in-home consultation, and you approve the product selections, we can generally schedule the product installation 2-5 days later.

  2. Installation can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours (depending on home size & extent of services requested).

At the time of installation, a TotSafe babyproofer will also offer product training to all caregivers in the household.

There is an hourly fee for installation, as well as the retail cost of all products installed.

If you are handy with tools, you can choose to have TotSafe deliver your products to your door for you to do-it-yourself.

Please call if you are out of the area, sometimes we are able to accommodate a larger service area for an extra fee.

Why hire a home babyproofing service?

Reason 1: Homes are not created with the safety of children in mind. There are hundreds of hazards in the home which create problems for children - from electrical outlets to stairways, from sharp fireplace hearths to open banisters, homes have a wide array of hazardous areas. We pinpoint these hazards and work with you to safeguard them.

Reason 2: "There are just too many items to choose from": When you go to your local baby specialty retail store or search for childproofing products on the internet you'll find thousands of products - how do you know which ones are right for you, your home, and your child?  We know.

Reason 3: "I don't have the time": So often, we get calls from Moms & Dads who have a bag of childproofing items still in the packages, but simply haven't had time to install them. We have the time, and will work with your schedule, even if that means visiting in the evening or on Saturdays.

Reason 4: "My house is going to turn into a padded room."  Children need to be introduced to different colors, textures, sounds, etc. to learn how things work. At certain ages, they need to be able to pull themselves up on furniture and navigate a stairway under adult supervision to help develop gross motor skills. The keys to keeping children at this stage safe are supervision and appropriate childproofing for the age and needs of your child.  We solemly swear not to turn your home into one big padded room.

Our home babyproofers will work with you to come up with a childproofing plan that works for you!
